In celebration of the 2.0 update in "Guilty Gear Strive" I wanted to bring back this article I wrote last year for @animefeminist about the franchise’s three major LGBTQ+ characters. I’m happy with how it turned out and hope that it helps (re)introduce people to these characters, and their respective journeys of self-discovery and queer joy.

Queer Self-Acceptance in Guilty Gear Strive - Anime Feminist

Testament, Venom, and Bridget's growth in their personal plotlines runs parallel to the evolution of LGBTQIA+ representation in games, increasingly offering us a roster of nuanced, happy queer characters.

Anime Feminist

I may end the month slightly shy of my goal due to my ongoing mental health struggles, but I have managed some interludes I think people will enjoy reading. And that's something to be happy about. :)

Have an #excerpt from what I'm working on today and probably tomorrow

...

Braaklyn stretched out in her living room pond, watching the light shining from the skylight spread in a prism through the water over her head. Her gills fluttered and her eyes drooped sleepily.

She couldn’t nap here, though. For one thing, the larger pond was kept at a lower temperature than her sleeping pool and she’d wake up all stiff as a result. For another, her pet itherae hadn’t had their midday snack yet. And those sweet little river dragonettes could turn into totally nasty monsters if their snacky-fish were late. She could envision it with clarity: she snoozed off only to wake up missing several fingers while her petite roommates slept happily curled around distended bellies and in possession of a new taste for nixie flesh.

Besides, she was due at the pub.

My newest review is now online! I talk about Ayu Inui's newest manga series, which was a fun, character-focused yuri series discussing how clothes, and people, make us feel about ourselves.

I'm really glad that I had the opportunity to write about another Yuriko Hara manga, especially one as wonderful as "Out of the Cocoon".

Please heed the content warnings going in though, this manga anthology has some heavy and potentially triggering subject matter.

My newest article is now online. I'm really happy that I had a chance to talk about several great manga series that resonated with me, and my experiences of feeling pressured to socially mask as an autistic person.
