Reading yuri once again. Today I read Himitsu no Hanazono by Fujii Mihona. It's from the 90s but has a happy ending! And that cute old-fashioned shoujo look. And cross-dressing too!

People can read what they like, obviously, but it's strange to me when people love gay fan-ships but never read actual gay romance. Like do you not know there's a whole genre out there catering to this? I love reading yuri manga... so I don't get caught up in fandom drama of "will this random character get confirmed lgbt?" When I want that, I'll just read a comic where all the characters are openly lgbt from the start... People act like these books don't exist. It's strange.

Today, the omnibus for sono.N’s sci-fi yuri manga "SHWD" has been released, allowing readers to finally read the whole story after a nearly three year wait. While that is more than enough for me to share my article discussing plus-sized yuri manga, it has suddenly become even more relevant due to a completely different yuri series that is currently being released in English, Luka Kobachi’s "Rainbows After Storms".
One time I read a yuri manga about two women who live together and kiss each other etc. At the end of the manga they call each other best friends. Lots of people in the comments were infuriated by this! They were calling it "yuribait" because in their mind the word "friend" means no romance... even though the characters were kissing and cohabitating...
To me a friend is someone you care about. So I don't like "just friends" as a concept. I don't like the idea that adding romance to a friendship "ruins" or "ends" it.

There's an official English version called Beauty and the Beast Girl but it's incomplete. I don't know why they only translated the first part. The story also is not a beauty and the beast retelling so I don't know why they called it that. Although a yuri version of beauty and the beast would be really cool...
