45 years ago today, June 27, 1981, John Denver debuted at #44 on Billboard’s AC chart with “Some Days Are Diamonds (Some Days Are Stone)”. It went on to peak at #12 for three weeks and spent a total of 18 weeks in the AC Top 50.

This was one of my mom’s favorites. She bought the album about the time my little brother was born in July of 1981.

39 years ago today, June 27, 1987, Joe Kenyon debuted at #73 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart with “Hymne”. It went on to peak at #33 and spent a total of 15 weeks on the chart.

I played this song back then on AM 650 KYAK, the station I worked for from 1987-1991. It was unusual to play an instrumental tune. I thought it was a nice change of pace.
