I wrote some poetry while at church camp. There was a session done by a brother who is a writer, and he focused on Villanelles and Sonnets. This is a quasi-Villanelle with artistic liberities taken.

i actually do get it, in fact. the discovery of the lithograph was a big thing in the #MormonHistory circuit. this was in an ecumenical latter day saint zoom group (it slaps but can be v tense).

i just would not do it.

i wouldn't trip over a picture of emma or elijah or mary tbf.

if a first-hand portrait of paul was found, many christians would have that as their zoom bkground. in 2025 there will def be stassi d cramm ones.

not me tho

i will be a temple background girlie after i go in 2025

World Church (#CommunityofChrist leadership) responded to Conversations about D&C 116!

The article from them covers the circumstances. I wrote this article ( https://medium.com/@wednesdayrjones/doctrine-and-covenants-116-is-significant-scripture-and-scripture-is-what-it-should-remain-11bbcee561c3in ) February 2023, in preparation for World Conference 2023 where there was a (proposed) resolution (G-2) to remove Doctrine and Covenants 116 from the canon

I also spoke to the international Beyond the Walls congregation and did a few presentations in the #MormonHistory and #MormonStudies circuit

Today I wrote and published a story in Medium about how an ancestor in my family tree lead a religious sect around the turn of the 19th century called the New Israelites, which was a likely precursor to early Mormonism. #mormonhistory #geneology

603 | Cuppa Joe | Women of the Restoration | Ruth Smith

Meet Ruth Smith. Teacher, author, and recognized intellectual contender of her husband Fred M. Smith.  In this episode of Cuppa Joe which continues a discussion about women in the restoration, host Karin Peter and guest Wendy Eaton engage in a fascinating conversation about Ruth based solely on information gathered from female voices … a first. Here, you’ll get a sense of Ruth’s profound influence, protective nature, incredible intellect, sense of humor, and storytelling savvy. For questions, feel free to contact Wendy Eaton via email at [email protected] Transcript Intro and Outro music used with permission: “For Everyone Born,” Community of Christ Sings #285. Music © 2006 Brian Mann, admin. Ruth Smith, professor and Graceland College and the wife of Fred M Smith, 3rd prophet of Community of Christ and Joseph Smith Jr. grandson, was very feminist. Love that for her and her family.

she went up to JSIII (2nd prophet, Fred M's Dad) who was officiant of their (surprise) wedding and was like "promise to not ask me to obey in our wedding vows."

JSIII was like "dw. i wasn't going to do that."

love that for both of them.
