French Polish … it’s always tricky. The key is to be brave, apply in single strokes and let to dry. Then on to the next coat. Once you have two or three coats on, no more sandpaper - just the courage of one’s convictions. This has had seven coats now and I am thinning the polish with methylated spirits for a smooth finish. #WoodWorking #Modelling #Miniatures #No52.

@SteveClough Thanks. It is one of the many skills I have learned making miniature furniture. It is particularly good on miniatures because it is longer lasting than a merely oiled surface. Re-oiling in a small space is very difficult and hard to do cleanly. The fine sheen it creates also works well on a small piece. Most commercial varnishes are thick and ugly at this scale.

@IcooIey It’s a good use of a rainy Saturday. I had been going to pull weeds and cut grass but that can wait… have you recovered from your camping? And is it a bit warmer?

It’s been quite nice here this week, but rainy again today. Camping trip is next weekend, just need to make sure we have transportation and camping spots for all and know what gear will be needed.
