Surviving 3.6 4th Annual Wild About Change Fashion Show

Fashion, Healing, and Hope: A Night to Remember in Mobile, Alabama

On May 18, 2025, the city of Mobile, Alabama was moved by more than just fashion — it was touched by the strength, resilience, and stories of mothers who have survived unimaginable loss. Head2Toe Magazine was honored to be invited and to set up a booth at this powerful charity fashion show. Here, fashion met purpose and healing met community.

Fashion for a cause

The annual event, themed Fashion for a Cause, was far more than a stylish evening. It was a heartfelt tribute to surviving mothers, many of whom have endured the pain of losing a child. The show served as a platform to celebrate their strength. Additionally, it raised vital funds for a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping these mothers heal and thrive.

Amazing show energy

From the moment guests arrived, the energy was magnetic. DJ SWAG kept the crowd energized on the 1s and 2s, while a professional photographer captured powerful moments from the red carpet to the runway. VIP guests enjoyed prime seating. Meanwhile, all attendees were treated to a full sensory experience — from a delicious catered spread to custom cocktails served by a skilled bartender.

The models

As models graced the runway, each ensemble told a silent story of strength and solidarity. The fashion wasn’t just beautiful — it was meaningful. The evening reminded everyone present that fashion can be a vehicle for change. Moreover, community support can be the runway to recovery.

Head2Toe Magazine was proud to stand alongside survivors, supporters, and changemakers in such a meaningful way. Events like this are exactly why we do what we do. We aim to amplify voices that deserve to be heard and shine a light on stories that matter.

Surviving 3.6

Surviving 3.6, Inc. is a heartfelt nonprofit dedicated to supporting mothers who have lost a child through tragedy. The organization’s name—“3.6”—honors a pivotal moment. At 4:21 a.m. on March 6, 2017, founder Tammy White Steele received the devastating call that her 22-year-old daughter, Tamara “Tammy” White, had been tragically murdered.

Out of that darkness, a vow was born. Drawing on a childhood “pinky promise” between Tamara and her friends, Tammy pledged to walk alongside other bereaved mothers. She vowed not letting them endure grief alone. That commitment became Surviving 3.6, formally founded in 2020.

✅ Mission & Core Values

Emotional support: Peer-led groups, counseling, and community meetings like “Mommas and Mocktails” offer safe spaces for mothers to share, remember, and heal together.

Financial assistance: Helping with funeral costs—up to $500 for burial, or $250 for cremation—to relieve the economic burden during crisis.

Advocacy: Working to ensure legal accountability for violent crimes, while pushing for policies that protect grieving families

Their overarching mission: “create a community where grieving mothers can find solace, understanding, and the strength to rebuild their lives”

✅ Program and Services

Mommas and Mocktails
A bi-monthly gathering designed to foster true connection and healing. During this event, mothers remember their children in a judgment-free environment.

Support Networks

Practical Assistance
Direct funeral aid—managed through funeral homes and cemetery services—to cover burial or cremation expenses, with eligibility based on existing outstanding balances.

Guidance and Resources
Providing counseling referrals, planning assistance, and connections to local services. These resources help mothers navigate all aspects of their grief journey.

✅ Leadership & Structure

Surviving 3.6 is wholly run by volunteers and professional staff, led by:
Tammy White Steele, Founder & Executive Director

A supportive team including program, sponsorship, and community engagement coordinators, counselors, and event planners.

✅ Why It Matters

Mothers experiencing the death of a child face intense emotional turmoil—grief compounded by logistical hurdles. Surviving 3.6 addresses both:
Emotional healing: Reducing isolation through heartfelt peer connections and counseling.
Financial relief: Easing immediate expenses to allow focus on mourning.
Empowerment through advocacy: Ensuring victims’ families have a voice in justice and policy.
Their work honors loss by building resilience, restoring hope, and ensuring no mother must walk through grief alone.
