So. The Miteni factory in Italy, having utterly poisoned the Veneto region with PFAS "forever chemicals," rendering water toxic and causing a public health crisis, is now being dismantled and shipped to India.
This is not "waste management" or "resource relocation." This is the calculated, cynical offshoring of ecological violence.
The global north got its profits. The people of Veneto got the cancer, the contaminated blood, the birth defects. And now that the bill has come due, the machine of destruction isn't being scrapped; it's being packed into containers and sent to a new community to exploit.
They've learned nothing. They've simply decided that the consequences are bad for business in Italy, but will be far easier to ignore and suppress in India. This is the grim, predictable logic of capital: when you can no longer poison the "first world" with impunity, you export the poison to the "developing world."
It is a brazen declaration that some lives, some water, some futures are more disposable than others.
The name may change. The location may change. But some things remain the same: profit privatised, suffering socialised, and death exported.
