@cdarwin certain things trigger incidents of #misophonia and #misokinesia (things like someone eating pasta or chewing gum noisily, or seeing certain patterns or textures or whatever, that cause a seriously strong negative mental/emotional reaction).

For whatever reason, when I watched a video of Zuck wearing those goddamn glasses it triggered a VERY negative reaction for me. Like, in my head I was like "the them off take them off take them off TAKE THISE FSCKING THINS OFF NOW OR I'LL PUNCH YOU". I don't think it was the idea of them being smart glasses because other smart glasses didn't trigger a reaction like that in the past. There is just something about these particular ones, maybe because they are extra thick or something but not sure.

Perhaps this lady had a similar reaction, because no word of a lie if I couldn't avoid looking at this guy I would definitely go up to him and be all like "take them off PLEASE take them off NOW take them off or I WILL TAKE THEM OFF FOR YOU"

So @Taweret has recently tooted about #misophonia which I can very much relate to as someone who also must also contend with triggering sounds fairly regularly. It can be hard to talk about but bringing awareness to this legit affliction is a great thing!

Although it isn't as frequent I also have visual triggers called #misokinesia which are generally omewhat related to the former but not always...mostly certain patterns and motions but it is there.

Recently there have been a lot of pictures and videos of these new #Meta #Raybans and like...the sight of someone wearing these effin' things winds me up...like I want to PUNCH THEM OFF THEIR FACE.

First time was a photo of Zuck wearing them and I just thought it was because I always want to punch that bastard when I see him...but even other people I have seen wearing them make by brain go "take them off TAKE THEM OFF OH GOD TAKE THEM OFF!"

WTF is wrong with me I don't generally have an issue with photos of eye contact or glasses. I know I am a weirdo sorry.

"Misokinesia is a sensitivity to seeing others fidget that is prevalent in the general population"

Misokinesia is an interesting phenomena that I had never heard of before but evidently it is fairly common to various degrees in the general population (about 1 in 3 people have misokinesia to some degree).

Misokinesia is a sensitivity to seeing others fidget that is prevalent in the general population - Scientific Reports

Misokinesia––or the ‘hatred of movements’––is a psychological phenomenon that is defined by a strong negative affective or emotional response to the sight of someone else’s small and repetitive movements, such as seeing someone fidget with a hand or foot. Among those who regularly experience misokinesia sensitivity, there is a growing grass-roots recognition of the challenges that it presents as evidenced by on-line support groups. Yet surprisingly, scientific research on the topic is lacking. This article is novel in systematically examining whether misokinesia sensitivity actually exists in the general population, and if so, whether there is individual variability in the intensity or extent of what sensitivities are reported. Across three studies that included 4100 participants, we confirmed the existence of misokinesia sensitivity in both student and non-student populations, with approximately one-third of our participants self-reporting some degree of sensitivity to seeing the repetitive, fidgeting behaviors of others as encountered in their daily lives. Moreover, individual variability in the range and intensity of sensitivities reported suggest that the negative social-affective impacts associated with misokinesia sensitivities may grow with age. Our findings thus confirm that a large segment of the general population may have a visual-social sensitivity that has received little formal recognition.

Anyone else here affected by #misokinesia ?

I've never really been able to put it in words but I believe I have it and have had it since I was a kid.

For example, the older disney style animations where everything is a bit "wobbly" frustrates me. Cuphead can be a great game and I can see the appeal, but basically the animation style itself gives me a frustration I have no explanation for.

Then, any moving animations in corner of my eyes can frustrate me (or just distract) but this may be just ADHD thing.

I seem to also have some tier of #misophonia, so: annoying sound + annoying movement = me very sad/mad/bewildered/anxious.

I am not asking people to "accommodate" me in every situation. But I hope to see these two things more noted, so for example let me disable autoplay animations in chats or similar.

Ohhhh it has a name! I thought I was just being unreasonable.
