"I carry a river. It is who I am... we are saying our name. We are telling a story of our existence. The river runs through the middle of my body... Translated into English, ‘Aha Makav means the river runs through the middle of our body, the same way it runs through the middle of our land.
This is a poor translation, like all translations..."

This cherry tree in #Mimata #Miyazaki is acting like it is Spring. I guess Autumn took so long to get started that the tree thought winter wasn't going to come this year.

People don't through the sacred shrine stuff in the garbage. You have to take it to a shrine for a sacred burn. Our new friends (old people we got to know last year) told us about this bamboo burning event tonight. Mimata does it on Jan. 7th. It was a great chance to toss our sacred shrine thingies into the fire, along with the soon-to-be-moldy 鏡餅 Mochi pounded rice cakes. You're supposed to wait until the 15th to deal with the Mochi, but it's been getting warm in the afternoons: who knows when it would have starting getting green... #HayamaJinJya #Mimata #Miyazaki #三股町 #宮崎県 #早馬神社
