undefined | Melania Trump accused of shifting focus from those responsible to the victims of Jeffrey Epstein by Sweden Herald
U.S. First Lady Melania Trump has been accused of trying to shift attention away from those responsible for Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes and toward the victims themselves. In a statement released by several survivors—including Danielle Bensky and Annie Farmer—the group says the victims “have already shown extraordinary courage by coming forward” and that demanding more from them is a diversion rather than a pursuit of justice.
The accusation follows a surprise media interview in which Melania Trump denied any personal connection to Epstein and suggested that the victims’ testimonies be aired in congressional hearings. The survivors argue that her remarks “shift the burden to the survivors” in order to protect “those in power: the Justice Department, law enforcement, prosecutors and the Trump administration.” They contend that the focus should remain on holding the perpetrators and complicit officials accountable, not on pressuring the victims for further action.
Republican Congressman Thomas Massie, who has been urging the Justice Department to release all investigative material on Epstein, echoed the survivors’ call for accountability. In a post on X he wrote simply “PROSECUTE!” emphasizing the need for legal action against those implicated in the scandal rather than deflecting responsibility onto the victims.
