We do agree with your view point of a #mediaCritic, and it's obvious to set a link as reference to have an idea about what you are talking about this time @jeffjarvis. What the fediVerse is basically asking you guys of the #journalism guild is to simply add the tag #payWall, same as #giftLink, when ever there is one or the other.
Why would we know if an outlet has always or sometimes a paywall?
Me for myself I just don't and have no interest in starting to memorize who is who.
It's not only respectful with your readers and followers, it even protects them because every time we visit a site we get cookied and classified, and when that happens completely senseless because of the pay wall that definitely sucks.
Also, we do have our culture(s), our way(s) of being, and our position about [and a lot of us out here have a precise position about] paywalls [which] is quite [obvious and logical having in mind our free open source environment [clear in that regard]. So it really feels like you just don't care about [our] [the] culture [of lot's of us] out here if you refuse to respect our customs or requests, and that hurt's.
