A controversial Chilean artist who planned to allow three piglets to starve as part of an exhibition in Denmark to raise awareness of the mass meat production processes has had to close the show after the the animals were stolen. Chilean-born Marco Evaristti said a friend had helped animal rights activists to rescue the pigs from dying. Despite his initial disappointment, plans are being developed to continue the controversial piglet art project in another way, Evaristti told The Associated Press on Wednesday. “I got a lot of hate messages from around the world — I think people don’t get that my art is about animals rights,” he said.
