Of course, this issue would be fixed easily if everyone started using Mateix.org. But it is still pretty confusing to use, and feels pretty unstable (spent some time just trying to create an account on one of the public home-servers).
What I'd like to check, too, is IRC.
You know, the human mind is addicted to "new". Every-time we'll find something new that resembles our previous tools, we'll go "oonga boonga" and try it.
Because of all the #discord shenanigans about age verification n' all, I have spent a few hours until 1AM trying to understand & get started with #matrixdotorg , and I'd like to say: it looks & sounds cool, but as someone who was really just looking for a Discord alternative; it's awesome and confusing at the same time.
Choosing a client, homeserver, then "rooms" to chat and being connected to other homeservers just seems like an amazing concept!

I should love Matrix. It is a decentralised, privacy preserving, multi-platform chat tool. Goodbye Slack and your ridiculous free limits. AdiΓ³s Discord and your weird gamification. Suck it IRC with your obscure syntax and faint stench of BO. WhatsApp and Telegram can stick their heads in a bucket of lukewarm sick and sing sea shanties! Let's join the future! Our main Matrix room has been broken by protocol bugs causing state resets again. This occurred around a year ago and our room hasn't had time to regrow to the same size before the same thing happened again. We've determined that it's directly caused by the raids on our rooms.
@cinnyapp for #MatrixDotOrg just makes me sad at how close Matrix is to being a proper Discord alternative, while still having so many glaring issues at the protocol level that NEED to be fixed.
Also can Matrix just please accept the custom emote PR?? Half the apps use it already

As a Matrix user, I'm so sad and disappointed this happened. I hope alternative implementations such as Conduit or Construct go stable so that we don't have to rely so much on Dendrite or Synapse.
The Matrix foundation always had funding issues, but I never thought it would come to the point where they'd move their main server implementations to Vector and license it aGPL with selling exceptions. Copyleft has never been a Matrix thing.
You know what adds insult to injury? They've warned us about this for so long. They kept telling us that Matrix wasn't sustainable and that we needed to start donating or they wouldn't be able to keep their permissive licensing. Now, here we are, with the main server implementations being aGPL.
Why hasn't anybody made an encrypted alternative to eMail with Matrix?
