An average guy who loves computers & programming.
Programming LanguagesRust, C, GDScript

But #matrixdotorg lacks the kind of communities I found on #discord...
Of course, this issue would be fixed easily if everyone started using Mateix.org. But it is still pretty confusing to use, and feels pretty unstable (spent some time just trying to create an account on one of the public home-servers).

What I'd like to check, too, is IRC.

You know, the human mind is addicted to "new". Every-time we'll find something new that resembles our previous tools, we'll go "oonga boonga" and try it.

Because of all the #discord shenanigans about age verification n' all, I have spent a few hours until 1AM trying to understand & get started with #matrixdotorg , and I'd like to say: it looks & sounds cool, but as someone who was really just looking for a Discord alternative; it's awesome and confusing at the same time.
Choosing a client, homeserver, then "rooms" to chat and being connected to other homeservers just seems like an amazing concept!

Something annoying is when a platform is very promising, but because of its lack of users compared to big other platforms, it can be quite.... "boring to use". Or rather, I don't know how to use this platform (Mastodon)?

🦀 Did You Know?

The language's creator, Graydon Hoare, started Rust in 2006 partly out of frustration with a broken elevator in his apartment building, which sparked his interest in safer concurrent programming.

Welp, looks like #discord is rolling out some kind of ID verification thingie. Alright, protecting children is important n' all, but there are probably other ways to do this. And how could Discord tell you're over 13 just by looking at your face?
I will be honest and say that providing some government-provided IDs or documents is the most effective solu- wait a second; any kid could take his father's ID, no?
All of that is too confusing...
You know, I've never been preoccupied about "big tech CEOs" n' all of that because I never really cared about where my data was going due to its insignificance.
But it's pretty concerning when you start thinking more deeply about HOW your data is used; making money out of it, training some sloppy AI, or whatever.
I'm still not too preoccupied about all of that, but I am a bit more concerned...
What made me realize that is how "unsocial" social media has become; just distractions from life + ads.
Damn the #N64 is tough. Pretty intelligent, but quite difficult.
Or maybe I just feel like doing something from scratch? Like, I COULD just code my own graphics library or framework or whatever it should be called, then do some 3D display to emulate some kind of N64/PS1 style.
I'll look into it a bit, just for the sake of finding out what I truly want to make.
I'm thinking about starting to make some kind of #N64 homebrew. Maybe in C (i luv #clang) maybe in Rust, I don't know. All I know is that I feel like doing it (very smart of me to say when I recently TRIED coding an OS in Rust. #osdev is fun tho).
Seems like a fun project to understand the internals of the N64-
Wait. Wait a second.
...
Why not code an OS, that's technically a "console's" firmware? But wait an OS on computer isn't exactly the same as the OS stuff on a console...
It's just an idea
Greetings to the people of Mastodon! I have just discovered the "Fediverse", and I think the concept is amazing! I kind of never noticed that on other social media, despite learning a bunch of stuff and finding interesting content, there wasn't really any interaction. But this place looks nice!
