We don’t focus on tests day-to-day. But when tests serve our child’s goals, we welcome them. Tools like the SAT, CLEP, or DSST can help demonstrate capacity and open doors—whether for college credits or milestones toward adulthood. Tests aren’t the goal—but they’re useful when they serve autonomy.

Our new dean is deemphasizing #CompetencyBased education models, but he did like the #MasteryLearning approach in my Introductory #Chemistry class. Remember, it isn't that students master a topic by an arbitrary due date, but rather that they do it by the end of the course.
