Seán FenianThis is the #OXO Good Grips #mandoline pusher device I mentioned yesterday. The black ABS reinforcement that you can see the edge of triples the thickness of the pusher plate, and is much tougher than the polystyrene I'm fairly sure the plate is actually made of. That plate should NEVER EVER have been an unreinforced, un-buttressed plastic part that thin. The design is acceptable *if the plate were made from food-grade stainless steel*. Iffy, but probably OK, if it were brass. Dubious in Zamac or another zinc die-casting alloy, or in aluminum. But absolutely not acceptable in plastic. This should never have passed #engineering review. It was GOING to break. The only question was when.
