@leigh_hackspace are hosting a retro day and LAN party on the 23rd of November.

Does your childhood smell like 8 bit, 16 bit or even 32 bit? Yearn for square pixels in a resolution you can see? We're going to bring in all our old systems (Spectrums, Commodores, Ataris, even some vintage Macs) and hook them up for people to play with. Most will have fast loading and an array of games to choose from.

In our classroom, we're going to be running a LAN party, with a bunch of 2000s era games through the day. OpenArena (Quake 3), Unreal Tournament, Red Alert, Dune 2000 and Worms Armageddon. Win, lose, all done in the same room as your co-players.

We ask players to bring their own headphones or earphones with a standard 3.5mm jack. (Bluetooth headphones are not supported)

Doors open at 11am, LAN party games will change every hour, and a casual drop-in, drop-out approach.

Code of Conduct will be displayed and will apply to all players.

Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Refreshments available on site.

NAF477, Dassault-Dornier Alpha Jet A, Nigerian Air Force, seconds after taking off from Runway 23 Right at Manchester Airport, on delivery, 25th March 2015, as seen from the Runway Visitor park.
This was being delivered from the US, but obviously couldn't fly non-stop - it came in from an over-night stop at Reykjavik, then fuel-stopped here before flying on to Rome.
Several other Alpha Jet's made this trip over the course of several weeks, but this was the only one I caught.

The factory workers kitchen is delightfully retro, including a charmingly photogenic old mixer. Upstairs, a fantastically decayed lunch room held crockery and utensils stacked chaotically on shelves and laid out haphazardly on the rickety table. On the shelves were also some interesting rolls of company meal coupons for curry, chips, sandwiches. Yummy!
