This old hospital laundry closed approximately 15 years ago and is filled with a glorious palette of colours set against a backdrop of natural decay.

There are wooden signs with stencilled lettering on the walls: dresses, blankets, bags, and sheets. There is also a red weighing scale in this room, with a pile of red laundry bags in front.

The green of the ferns growing out of them contrasts beautifully!

๐Ÿ’›Beauty in decay. Some peeling paint, some algae-covered brickwork, a few cheeky ferns and an old wicker trolley. Inside an abandoned paper factory, somewhere in England

๐ŸฅStandish Hospital (Gloucestershire, England) This abandoned hospital had an impressive collection of peeling paint!

Some history. Once a 16th-century country house, Standish Hospital evolved through major medical eras. It treated 2,000 soldiers during WWI and later became a TB sanatorium.

After 1947, it served the NHS as a specialist chest hospital before closing in 2004.

It was demolished a few years ago.

๐Ÿšญ No Smoking. This sign caught my eye while exploring the changing rooms of an abandoned coal miners' changing room. The colours, the crispy peeling paint, and the brick textures combine with the old sign in its rotting frame.

Apparently, still the way to go: let abandoned buildings go so bad that it's cheaper to take them down than to restore. Long live project developers :-(
