Has anyone had luck getting #MacVenture games to run on Linux *outside* of the #BasiliskII Mac Classic emulator?

@atomicpoet The classic 1987 #Mac and #AppleIIgs versions of #Shadowgate are available in one package on #Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/343800/Shadowgate_MacVenture_Series/

The Steam version is courtesy of #Zojoi, a company founded by original #MacVenture series developers who also crowdfunded the reimagined 2014 version: https://www.zojoi.com/shadowgate/

You can also play the #MSDOS port via @internetarchive: https://archive.org/details/msdos_Shadowgate_1987

Shadowgate: MacVenture Series on Steam

Relive the original MacVenture Series version of Shadowgate! Play through the Mac and Apple IIGS versions to experience where the franchise began.

Next up in my #macicons series, let's look at Deja Vu: A Nightmare Comes True (1985). It was arguably (though perhas not technically) the first point-and-click adventure game and the first title in the #macventure series (that includes the more popular Shadowgate).

ICOM's concept was to make a game version of a 1960s pulp novel, with gritty characters and noir vibes and a cynical, dry-humoured narrator. I think the icon nails that perfectly.

@rubereaglenest Ah yes! I played the hell out of Déjà Vu and Uninvited on the #Macintosh.

It's hard to overstate how radical these were at the time.

Moving from pure text games like #Zork to this was pure magic. It was a major shift in "what's possible with #InteractiveFiction".
