Das MacBook Neo scheint sich wohl gar nicht so schlecht zu verkaufen. Die Version, die ich vor ein paar Tagen gekauft hatte, wäre aktuell erst wieder ab Mitte April verfügbar. Selbst im offiziellen Münchner Apple Store.
@kalleboo a few weeks ago i picked up a free PM G5 box someone was going to toss out.
last night i finally opened up the box. it had some documentation sitting at the bottom of the box, probably from when the owner had replaced their dying G4 with the G5.
i would not be surprised at all if this was a common failure point on the G4. (that, and those psu caps have to be just pooched after 30 years)

TIL that the #IBMPC didn't come with just #MSDOS. It had *four* operating systems available from the start.
I imagine that's why it was designed to boot from disk, and not a fixed ROM operating system like the #Macintosh.
The four original IBM PC operating systems were:
* #ROM #BASIC
* UCSD p-System, an OS built around a #bytecode interpreter for #Pascal
* CP/M-86, an x86 version of #CPM
* #IBM PC #DOS, a knock-off of CP/M from a little-known company called #Microsoft

it always amazes me seeing photos of the physical edition, which i spent weeks designing the cover and layout for. every object i photographed for the cover is from the games and computer junk i grew up with - even that cocktail napkin from Leisure Suit Larry :D

if you're wondering about the cover design: it's a re-imagining of the Microsoft Entertainment Pack for Windows 3.1, full of my childhood clutter. at the top are diskettes i grew up with, like Stunts, PKWare Utilities (shareware), MS-DOS 3.3 for Amstrad, Where in Europe is Carmen Sandiego, Leisure Suit Larry 1, and a free copy of F-PROT Anti-Virus i got in a box of blank disks :)
