The mastodon in the room is that they are a for-profit company, but I don't think they sufficiently addressed that in this video. What are they going to do with the profits? How does that reconcile with accepting donations? The answer in the vid is that it's a technicality due to "developing software" not being considered to be charitable. I don't know the US rules, but my understanding is that the only requirement to be an NPO is that you don't pay out dividends.

Ab März 2025 wird der von #Mozillas Tochterfirma #MZLA Technologies Corporation entwickelte E-Mail-Client #Thunderbird auf einen monatlichen Release-Zyklus wechseln und passt sich damit an den Zyklus von #Firefox an. Bisher gibt es Hauptversionen nur einmal jährlich mit kleineren #Bugfixes und #Sicherheitsupdates, die zwischendurch veröffentlicht werden.
@killyourfm I set my hope in #MZLA actually continuing #Firefox development when #Mozilla inevitably crumbles. With a more ethical path. Our problem is not Firefox, it’s Mozilla’s leadership and they seem completely bonkers incapable to reform themselves.
