Russ (Path Less Pedaled) asked people at the #MadeBikeShow a series of questions, one being:

"What's a vintage standard or component you wish would come back?".

Most answers included:

rim brakes

friction shifters

square taper / threaded bottom brackets

silver components

mechanical/non-electronic braking & shifting

serviceable parts

Basically the stuff that started to go out of fashion when I started working in shops a quarter century ago.

I’m in love with whoever that built this hotdog bike 🌭❤️ #MADEBikeShow
It was also very cool to see Bike Friday bikes in person! Unfortunately, the man at the booth was busy talking to the other man, and they didn’t have a demo bike for folding/riding so all I did was lift one, but it was amazingly light! Apparently the pakiT (presumably with the ultralight frame upgrade) is only 15 pounds! #MADEBikeShow https://bikefriday.com/product/bike-friday-pakit-compact-folding-bike/
pakiT Folding City Bike | Bike Friday Made in the USA

Starting at 22 lb, this is the lightest folding Bike Friday and it fits in a backpack! Makes a great multi-modal commuter bike that quick folds for the train, bus, car trunk.

Very happy to report that #MADEBikeShow had strong Japanese representation, complete with a kei truck at the Yakima booth! 🚲🛻

I asked the lady at the Crane Bell booth 今日はご出張ですか? (politely indirect way of asking if she flew all the way in from Japan) and she said yes, so I bought their most expensive bell to support my people 🇯🇵
