How do #cancercells manage to infiltrate #lymphnodes, for example, where lots of #immunecells are active and should be able to destroy them? According to a new study in
Cell Metabolism, #mitochondrialtransfer between #cells is the cause. Cancer cells "#steal" these small #organelles, which are highly efficient #energysuppliers, from the immune cells, thereby weakening the latter.

How to examine the lymph nodes?
The study of the lymph nodes is done in two ways: puncture: using a special needle, biopsy: surgical removal of part of the lymph node.
A study of the lymph nodes is done in order to determine the presence of adenopathy of the lymph nodes (malignancy, inflammation, infection).

Lymph nodes act as one of the body's first lines of defense against disease. From these organic control centers, immune cells are sent into battle against foreign invaders. But somehow, lymph nodes are also the first stop for most metastatic cancers. “It’s paradoxical,” Cold Spring Harbor Laborat

In breast cancer, nearby lymph nodes, which are part of the immune system, are usually the first site of cancer spread, and from here cancer cells can travel to other parts of the body, such as the brain, lung, liver, and bones.
There comes a point when you’ve been #sick for so long that you’ve forgotten what it’s like to be #healthy. I think I’m there. Even when I have an #autoimmunedisorder flareup, I have an end in sight. But whatever #infection decided to take up residence in my throat and #lymphnodes is not letting go. Having a name for it would help, at this point we don’t. #work should not make you sick. Work should not make it impossible to get better. Work should not be the cause.
But it is.
