I only have #LogitechMediaServer to setup now on Beastie and then I can shutdown the old Ubuntu server. 😀

For all people here that use #Squeezebox and Lyrion Music Server. There is a community firmware update for Squeezebox Radio, Touch and Controller. I wrote a blogpost why and how to update to the latest version: 8.5.0.

Community firmware for Squeezebox Touch/Radio/Controller – HomeHack

For anyone who's using Squeezebox. It's time to spin up your own Squeezebox server because tomorrow mysqueezebox will shut down.

Setting up your own Squeezebox server is not hard to do. Just take a humble Raspberry Pi. Install Raspberry Pi OS, (or another Linux flavor) and install Logitech Media Server on top of it. A full instruction of mine can be found here.

Creating a Raspberry Pi Squeezebox Server

Create your own Squeezebox server (aka Logitech Media Server, aka Slimserver) with a Raspberry Pi and a HDD in six steps.

I have been migrating my home server from #TrueNAS core to TrueNAS scale over the past few weeks. Before the holidays I had my most essential services running (#HomeAssistant and #LogitechMediaServer), and now on a rainy winter Saturday I'm trying to finish the migration. Overall, it has been OK, I wasn't thrilled about the loss of #FreeBSD jails and a migration to #kubernetes containers, but I realize that is the way the work is going, and I am hoping that things are better supported.
My life would be simpler if software were packaged properly (not shipping a whole bunch of conflicting libraries within the package that are also available as OS packages) and written in memory safe languages (Segmentation fault says C via perl). Anyway, my music plays again! Shame about the collateral damage to the display manager... #Upgrades #rPI #Squeezelite #Logitechmediaserver

The legacy of the Squeezebox

This summer we renovated our bathroom. OK: we selected the pottery and most was done by people, who really know how to fix up a bathroom from the late 70’s. ;-) The craftspeople did their job…

In my ongoing quest to #Selfhost everything and anything, I've now added #LogitechMediaServer, and flashed my Raspiaudio ESPMuse Luxe with #Squeezelite.

Through this, it - at last - lets me cast music from my #Navidrome server to the Luxe. And - thanks to a plugin that ships with LMS - also my begrudgingly tolerated Google smartspeakers via the same interface.

Their continued existance is based entirely on leased time though.

Soon, they too shall be replaced with #cloudless alternatives.

AntiX Linux running well now on my HP Mini 210-1100 now with the 500GB Samsung 870 EVO SSD!

If you had to choose one to use as a personal music streamer, which would you choose? I'm leaning towards #Navidrome because there seems to be more options on Android that works with #subsonic. I think I'll try #LogitechMediaServer when I get a #raspberrypi.
