Today is a good day to remind folk about the Declaration on Free Access to Law (https://falm.info/declaration/).

It declares, among other things that: "Public legal information is digital common property and should be accessible to all on a non-profit basis and free of charge"

#LawFedi #lawyers #inhouse #lawprofs

"Ask yourself: why would society tolerate a legal profession that outsources all its professional obligations to someone else? What value does such a profession provide? Why would anyone need or even want a lawyer if this is all a lawyer is good for?" #lawprofs #LawFedi

Very excited that Cambridge University Press has released the collection Beth Britt and I have edited on rhetoric and law. If you are interested in either topic, check it out. It's available online free of charge through this link (though we'd love it if you ordered a copy): https://www.cambridge.org/core/books/rhetorical-traditions-and-contemporary-law/E726D8261ECF874A252F7E53C17122B5 If you write in this area, we especially would like you to note the final chapter and its call for proposals. #lawfedi #legalwriting #teamrhetoric #lawprofs #argumentation #legalphilosophy

Chicagoland IP Scholars Workshop

The Chicago-Kent Program in Intellectual Property Law is excited to announce the revival of the Chicagoland IP Workshop. The first edition of this new iteration of the Chicagoland IP Workshop will take place on Friday, December 6 at Chicago-Kent College of Law. We welcome IP scholars from the broader Chicagoland community. We're Chicagoans, so we tend to think most of the upper midwest is Chicagoland, but we welcome people to self-define! To express an interest in participating, please complete this Google form by Friday, November 1. The precise format for the workshop will depend on number of participants and stage of the projects that they seek to present. Chicago-Kent will provide lunch and other food.

This is a long shot, but any #academics or #lawprofs have a textbook on public law (statutes, regulations, and interpretation) they like?

Even more of a long shot, one they think could be used for an undergraduate class?
