chestasI'm about to start my first winter season in Launceston and will be able to see for myself what is driving the debate to ban wood heaters.
Even walking on a fairly mild day has allowed me to experience the smell and toxicity of wood heaters first hand and it isn't pleasant.
Of course the big issue is always economic cost both to the government and to consumers. And like other fuels, there should be a plan to transition which is manageable and supportive to households this will impact.
And this plan should be being designed now for implementing assp. But timber businesses and conservative voices put up a big fuss.
