Arthur B. Evans has done a lot of deep research into the quality of the multiple translations and ranked them based on how the first chapter begins. This is exactly the kind of nerdy information I love the internet for.

It wasn’t the digital version with issues, the paperback copy I posses is a very poor translation. It is likely a reprint of one of the early translations which lost a lot of meaning and intent of the author.

Apparently old translations of this book, did an amazingly poor job maintaining the authors original intent, perspective, character voice, and even names.

While looking for a digital copy of the book (yes I sometimes keep a paper and digital book in sync as I read one story) I realized the digital book was vastly different (and longer!) than the paper copy I originally started reading.
