Posting on behalf of Rainier Valley Greenways-Safe Streets:

-Saturday (3/23): driver on Lake Washington Blvd hits a tree, obliterates a park sign at Genesee Park
-Last month: driver on Lake Washington Blvd hits tree at Alaska St, has to be extracted from their vehicle

We need this park road to be slower & safer for everyone

I thought it’d be nice to get a night bike ride on Lake WA Blvd, and lookie what I found near Lake WA Blvd & Horton St:
No injuries appeared to have occurred, luckily

Reminder that tomorrow morning #LakeWaBlvd in #Seattle from Mt. Baker Beach to Seward Park is open for all ages, abilities and modes! #SeaBikes #bike
#LakeWaBlvd being open for all ages and abilities in non-car modes doesn’t work very well when it’s random weekends and ends at 6pm on sunday. kiddo hasn’t been down to it once because we’ve either been out of town or it’s not nice weather or we forget.

I fit in a mostly* car-free #SEAbikes ride on Lake WA Blvd, getting more time to practice balancing on my e-bike without holding onto the handlebars (much improved since last time!) & returning home before the rain

*signs spaced far apart just aren’t effective barriers to drivers

It was gorgeous outside at the first Bicycle Weekend of the year on Lake Washington Blvd in #Seattle today! Lots of people were out enjoying the sunshine both on and off the road. This is a low cost kind of recreation that is beneficial to mental & physical health #SEAbikes #BikeTooter #LakeWaBlvd #bikePNW

Tonight: @jrock08 is leading a group bike ride on Lake Washington Blvd.

From Jason: “This ride will be critical mass style. We will take the road and assert our right to ‘coexist’ on the boulevard.”

Meet at Stan Sayres Park tonight at 5:45 pm

I think maybe south seattle has decided they don’t care if the city officially supports people streets every weekend. Lake Washington Blvd easily had more folks out walking, running, rolling and biking than likely the number of folks in vehicles. I even saw a number of runners and walkers in the street. A one way for cars would serve better because less need to wait for a gap to unsafely pass. #Seattle #LakeWaBlvd #SeaBikes
