I'm looking for info on #Oakland #CriticalMass, but not finding much online, and actually some of what I see is conflicting.
I *think* it happens on the first Friday of the month (most CM's happen on the last Friday, but making it a different day than @sfcriticalmass is cool so you can do both), and starts around #LakeMerritt (by the amphitheater?). Does anyone here know for sure?

There's this great Alameda/Lake Merritt map overlay that

Everything north of Eagle Ave (so Jean Sweeny Park to the Estuary!) was marshland. (Modern day implications for building a swimming pool in a seasonal wetland...)

If the 1857 map can be believed, oak woodland went right up to the beach on the south!

Imagine if we planted even a small fraction of those oaks - our songbirds would be so happy!
