#DOJ announced charges Tuesday in the 2024 collapse of #Baltimore’s #KeyBridge, accusing the #Singapore based operator of a ship & a key employee of making critical decisions that led to the disaster & the deaths of 6 people.

The indictment names Synergy Marine Pte Ltd, of Singapore, & Synergy Maritime Pte Ltd, of Chennai, #India. Radhakrishnan Karthik Nair, 47, an Indian national who was technical superintendent for the Dali container ship, was also charged.

Ship operator, employee charged in crash that collapsed Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge

Prosecutors have charged the operator of the ship that crashed into Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge leading to the deaths of six construction workers in March 2024. A key employee is also charged. Federal prosecutors announced the indictment Tuesday naming Synergy Marine Pte Ltd., based in Singapore, and Synergy Maritime Pte Ltd., based in Chennai, India. FBI investigations focused on the vessel’s operations and whether the crew knew of critical issues before leaving port. Maryland officials estimate it will cost between $4.3 billion and $5.2 billion to replace the bridge. A new bridge is expected to open to traffic in 2030.

The Celnet Genie service, which we designed as an "ISP in a box", was pretty amazing, really, especially for an essentially free ISP.

Also, it's one of those odd jobs where you end up as both lead applications architect, systems manager, server builder, removal dude, and underfloor cable rat and crimper in the same project. I feel jobs like that in big corporations tend not to exist any more.
