The table in the dining room was set, decorated with charger plates, flowers, and napkins nicely folded. The mud and debris covered everything. https://www.texasobserver.org/where-the-water-reached/

#KerrCounty didn't have an emergency #flood command center until 6 AM on July 4th, over 4 hours after emergency flash flood alerts were sent & while #CampMystic was desperately trying to evacuate. Rescue crews were on their own & some were cut off by the flooding for hours. Emergency response county leadership were all MIA & none of the #Republican State or Federal elected leaders stepped in while 136 people died from a predicted disaster.

Public broadcasting cuts hit a nonprofit that's helped fund Sesame Street

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has long helped pay for PBS, NPR and 1,500 local radio and television stations and programs like “Sesame Street." On Friday, it said it would close after the U.S. government withdrew funding. The organization told employees that most staff positions will end with the fiscal year on Sept. 30. A small transition team will stay until January. The private, nonprofit corporation was founded in 1968, less than a year after Congress authorized its formation. It now ends nearly six decades of fueling the production of renowned educational programming, cultural content and emergency alerts about natural disasters.
