What does it mean to assert sovereignty in a contested territory like occupied East Jerusalem? The yearly hate march is less of a legitimate expression of national pride, and more an act of aggression, if not a state funded pogrom. A shameful yearly display of profound Jewish cowardice.

Thousands expected at the day designated to commemorate the unification of the city after Israel annexed east Jerusalem in 1967 unlawfully, passing through the Muslim Quarter, with the potential for violence and racist chants. The event features far-right figures.

[…] Entry to this dense neighborhood is often accompanied by hate songs, chants such as "Death to Arabs" and "Your village will burn," property vandalism, and physical attacks against Palestinian residents and journalists.

The involvement of the "Am K'Lavi” group, led by the son of Meir #Kahane, reinforces the march's association with extremist ideologies. Critics argue the municipality uses the Am K’Lavi as a shield to avoid responsibility for the march’s consequences.
