This is great! This isn't some site in the middle of nowhere, there are amenities around as well as market rate housing across the street, great for social integration!
My only qualm is the Car-Centric planning of the wider neighbourhood, no retail to speak of and largely single use. Here's hoping Habitat for Humanity thinks of that; perhaps some units that can be converted in future to have retail at grade and dwelling above.

And now for some actually good news!
My city is transferring land to build more than a thousand "affordable" and "attainable" housing units. With a focus on 3 and 4 bedroom units.
It's a start, not a finish. But I'm happy we're starting.
The City of Waterloo announced Thursday it will transfer city-owned lands to Habitat Waterloo Region to build more than 1,000 affordable homes. The city says it's "one of the largest and most ambitious affordable housing projects in Canada."
If you really need it to cover your own expenses, that's okay too. :)

I'm kind of chuckling, because I was like, 'Okay, going to use Google Maps to find the place because I remember wandering around a bunch last time', and no, it's right behind McLaren. Just cut across the McLaren arena parking lot and take a quick hop down a slope and you're at the Calvary.
I swear, just call me Ryoga Hibeki or something.

There are now 14 registered candidates for the #Kitchener Centre provincial byelection, plus one who's declared but is as yet unregistered. There may be a few more registrations before Wednesday, when registrations close.

Candidates for smaller parties are declaring their candidacy and registering for the Kitchener Centre byelection. I expect there will be a small deluge just before nominations close on 16 November.
