I’ve seen this film, this type of film, before but it knows that and uses it to trust the audience. There are so many moments of quiet and stillness and beauty and simplicity and sincerity. It does not shy from the disparity of class or the sorrows of loss and it doesn’t pretend any of that can be fixed with hard work or faith in humanity or a Christmas tree.
