THE HUMAN PLOUGH
is another genius <inventio> by Hieronymus Bosch.
*It’s part of the enduring Purgatory (or Hell).
*The whole scene is again an Upside Down image.
*As the ultimate reversal, the dragon (=snake!) steers the plough.
*It may echo Genesis 3:17- “..cursed is the ground for thy sake..”.

Hieronymus Bosch & his Studio not only represented poor souls in Purgatory and Hellish scenes.
In small spots of some triptychs can be seen blessed going to Heaven, often aided by angels. At RIGHT #KHMWien.
One panel even shows just that! At LEFT, in Venice.
All works ca.1500AD.
SOME ROUND DISCS ARE EXECUTION BOARDS
or may refer to such, on works by Hieronymus Bosch/Shop ~1500.
The one on Tree-Man’s head can also be a diner board, a hat, or a podium.

A SNAKE WRAPPED AROUND THE BODY
is depicted twice on the Last Judgment/Vienna.
It refers obviously to cleansing/punishment for the
Original Sin ie Superbia (and possibly also sin Luxuria?).
