Like to reduce the energy consumption of your software? Curious to learn how?

Come to Karanjot's talk "#KEcoLab: KDE's Automation Tool For #Energy ⚡ Consumption Measurements" at #Akademy in Berlin tomorrow (Sat)! 🚀

When: Sat. 6 Sept. from 11:25-12:05
Where: TU #Berlin, Room 2

https://conf.kde.org/event/9/contributions/263/

KEcoLab allows data-driven software development prioritizing #EnergyEfficiency, while making it easy to obtain reports needed to #EcoCertify software with the #BlueAngel!

How can we ensure energy data from KEcoLab are stable?

@sthak9 has some ideas.

Ensuring KEcoLab Stability: Introducing Dedicated CI-Test

KEcoLab, a tool for measuring software energy consumption, needs robust testing to ensure its functionality after every code change. This blog post presents the work I did in Season of KDE 2024 implementing dedicated test builds using Kate test scripts to achieve this goal.

KEcoLab in Season of KDE 2024: Energy-Consumption Measurements In The CI/CD Pipeline

#KEcoLab is a tool enabling remote access to KDE's measurement lab in Berlin.

Season of #KDE contributor Aakarsh MJ (@aakarshmj) has worked on integration of KEcoLab into #Okular's pipeline. Thanks to his work, #energy reports can now be created with every new release!

KEcoLab in SoK24: Incorporating Energy-Consumption Measurements In The CI/CD Pipeline

KEcoLab Sustainability has been one of three goals at KDE over the past 2 years. One aspect of this goal is to measure the energy consumption of KDE software. To do this, it is necessary to access the lab in KDAB, Berlin, which can now be done remotely using KEcoLab.

KEcoLab provides remote access to KDE's measurement lab in KDAB Berlin and automates statistical analysis of the results.

Sarthak Negi (@sthak9@floss.social) and Aakarsh MJ (@aakarshmj) will work on testing and further developing KEcoLab. This includes adding support for running usage scenarios written with KdeEcoTest and Selenium, and running measurement tests in Wayland.

KEcoLab: Remote Energy Measurement Lab

In this post I start my journey in Google Summer of Code (GSoC) with KDE Eco by describing progress made on the exciting project of making remote access to the Energy Measurement Lab a reality.

Great talk at #37c3 about picking software against climate change: "Software Licensing For A Circular Economy" explains how wasteful some proprietary software is against similar open sources products, how big the impact of unwanted features is and how they set up and automated system to test the energy needs of open source software.

#FreeSoftware developer? Looking to measure the #energy consumption of your software in a dedicated lab? Can't make the trip to #Berlin to do so?

Karanjot Singh is working to change that!

This summer remote access to the #KDAB measurement lab will become a reality. Read more at the #KDEEco blog:
