Fénix is an album by Argentinian jazz composer and saxophonist Gato Barbieri featuring performances recorded in 1971 and first released on the Flying Dutchman label.

Writing in 1971 for The Village Voice, Robert Christgau referred to Fénix as "the first jazz I've played frequently for pleasure since In a Silent Way" (1969) by Miles Davis.[4] The AllMusic site awarded the album 4½ stars, stating that "at this point in 1971, well before the Muppets would create a caricature out of him, Barbieri was absolutely smoking, and for a certain style of rhythmic free jazz, this is a captivating album indeed" - Wikipedia

Don Sebesky & The Jazz Rock Syndrome 1968

Frugtastic grooves!

"An excellent little album -- with a very funky sound! Don't be put off by the "jazz rock" in the title -- because there's very little rock in here -- just some hard funky drums and fuzzy use of guitar -- served up by Don Sebesky in his approximation of the sound of the younger generation! ... very much in the best groovy, groove-heavy Verve instrumental mode of the 60s -- a soaring, swinging style that did plenty back in the day to bridge the generation gap. Guitar solos are by Joe Beck and Larry Coryell -- and other players include Hubert Laws on flute, Richard Spencer on alto, and Don Sebesky on organ, clavinet, and electric harpsichord! Titles include "Shake A Lady", "Banana Flower", "The Word", "Big Mama Cass", "Somebody Groovy", "I Dig Rock & Roll Music", "You've Got Your Troubles", and "Meet A Cheeta"." Dusty Groove

I'm now entering 1968 in my #MilesDavis journey, but I have to stop and talk about the December 1967 recording "Circle in the Round" -- had this been released in 1968, it truly would have been confounding. Guitarist #JoeBeck plays guitar drone the way #HolgerCzukay of #Can played bass drone. #TonyWilliams 's drumming is jaw dropping even for Tony Williams. And its EDITED version is 26+ minutes. Buckle up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsXeq8oS9nU
