Samantha Fish's previous album, "Faster" from 2021, did not captivate me as much as her earlier works. However, this collaboration with Jesse Dayton, titled "Death Wish Blues", is an improvement over its predecessor. The bluesy, funky, and rocky elements are all blended together with some Americana flavour, resulting in a solid blues rock album with juicy riffs and fiery (slide) guitar solos, all backed by strong production quality. As with most newer albums I purchase, I am always curious to see how they will fare over the years. For now, I am very pleased with this album, especially considering its highlights such as "Deathwish", "Riders", "Rippin' and Runnin'", and possibly my favourite, the slower, Amy Winehouse-esque "No Apology". Oh, I must also mention "Supadupabad", which sounds very Zappa-esque and was definitely the album's best surprise when I heard it.
