I thought the #Newcastle university students were bad given the state of #Jesmond over the last few days, but sitting opposite a #Durham student on the #LNER train back to London was a depressing experience. Bleating on about organised pub crawls and the drinking games they play and comparing the looks of various members of their social circle, god it was awful.

The £3.4m Prudhoe Street #Metro junction replacement project in #Newcastle has won the Outstanding Project of the Year (under £20m) at the Spotlight Rail Awards, marking its second award. The project, completed in just two weekends, was carried out by #Nexus and delivery partner Smarttrax Rail. The works replaced Metro's busiest junction, ensuring minimal disruption with two weekend closures. The complex project involved pumping wet concrete down to the tunnel floor, future-proofing Metro infrastructure for years. The project previously won Project of the Year at the Global Light Rail Awards. The renewal completes the track replacement from #Jesmond to #Gateshead.
