Due to boundary changes, all of the seats on Gateshead council will be contended in the upcoming local elections. This means that every elector gets to vote for three candidates in their ward, and the three candidates with the largest number of votes will be elected. This slight variation on the usual FPTP voting promises to be interesting, but also bone-chillingly scary at the same time.

I assume that the optimistic and inclusive tone is pitched to counter the Reform Ltd narrative of "broken Britain".
