@Snoro Indeed. I've just spent money I don't have to refurbish a house so that it would be sensibly insulated. The house was a "good" house, prized even, and yet had zero insulation, not even cavity walls, single-glass windows, and of course, a coal-burning fire place in every room (long unused, presumably) and a gas boiler (that had to work overtime to heat up the whole of Cambridge, given the lack of insulation).

The median energy rating of a UK house is D (!), and our house had an E (!!). Given the state of the economy, widespread poverty, fragility of most families without any savings, meagre salaries, rampant inflation, and the lack of ideas from the political elite, the housing situation doesn't seem to be about to change anytime soon. I so wish I am wrong.

At 21:47 last night it was -3.3°C outside and 20.2°C inside, downstairs at foot of stairs. The fire went out around 7pm. Nine hours later the outside temperature had fallen to -6.1°C, record low since records began (Jan '21). The inside temperature had only fallen to 17.6°C. With no heating the house lost around 2.6°C in nine hours with a ~23° delta from inside to out.

@mscaitlinmoran I agree with #JustStopOil at least until UK houses have been insulated #InsulateUK also ultimate respect for #ExtinctionRebellion - There I said it!
