Borders added! There’s a few buildings that need a touch more fabric paint, but luckily I haven’t rinsed the dye I made up yet

When quilted, this one will be called Suffragist City, a name that has utterly delighted me the whole time I worked on it

(just an aside - I know as a U.S. women’s suffrage-themed quilt this technically should have been purple and yellow, but that color combo is nails on a chalkboard for me, so 💜 and 💚 it is)

First side border is painted. Despite using the tiniest paintbrushes I could find I’m still getting a bit of bleed. This paint kit comes with white, though, so I may try to use it as white out

Otherwise pleased. I think it’s going to enhance the votes for women quilt nicely

#Quilting #InarticulateSkyline #Fabric

Intended the black and white building fabric to be the backing on this quilt, but after auditioning it for a border instead, I’m leaning towards it being on the front. I’d like it to coordinate better, tho, so I’m testing out fabric paint on random buildings to tie it all together

I think I like it, but feel free to yell, “No! Don’t!” if you disagree

(the paint is Dye-na-flow and it’s the first time I’ve used it, if anyone has product advice)

The buildings are pieced! There was one small section I had to hand stitch because the bits were too small to sew the y-seam with my machine. Nothing like designing a pattern that that’s too difficult for you to actually make 🤦‍♀️

Next up is letters and borders. There’s an interesting xoxsew pattern I’m thinking of emulating for the bottom border - https://www.etsy.com/listing/947578875/

Third attempt at the Asian Women voters building appears to be the charm (and the address might still be off? It’s really hard to center the windows, etc on buildings that are supposed to be behind other buildings perspective-wise)

Each building is about 1 ½ days of work. I knew working small would be hard, but this isn’t even that small when you get right down to it 🤷‍♀️

Putting sills around the windows is slowing me down, but I like have another purple fabric on the building

#Quilting #InarticulateSkyline

Finding it hard to focus, but the building blocks are fairly easy piecing and all I have to do is let the embroidery machine run so the signage and addresses kinda of made themselves today

#Quilting #WIP #InarticulateSkyline

Tried to do all the math by hand, but it got so confusing! Turning to graph paper helped. Going to be a LOT of piecing 😳

My next quilt project is going to involve precision piecing. I know it can be done, but I’m not sure it can be done by improv-loving me 😬

It’s another data viz quilt (#QuiltBingo block!) entirely from scraps and feminist related. I cannot wait to start it, but assuming I get out of bed, I have to put #InarticulateTaco on the long arm today, so that won’t happen

Still, I’m so excited I had to post something about it!
