As it slides further toward #fascism they will do what they can to ease the crisis but never cast off the root of the problem. #DEI butchers at the slaughterhouse aren't what is needed.

April 22nd, 2020 - the 50th anniversary of #EarthDay. Along with our “Let the Trees Rise” action (with @climatesavemovement and @extinctionrebellion ), where we hung placards on trees all over the Netherlands, a few of us went to Den Haag for a creative action. In the Netherlands, there is a tradition for those who turn 50, honoring that they have become old and wise enough to “see Sarah”; so we brought Sarah to our action in honor of the 50th anniversary of Earth day, along with the many reasons why we are fighting for system change. We also handed a letter to Mark Rutte, our prime minister, calling on him to listen to the 170 Dutch scientists pleading to the government to #ActNow. Heute schlossen sich Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler von @scientistrebellion_GER der friedlichen Besetzung der Straße des 17. Juni in Belrin an, welche durch @AufstandLastGen initiiert wurde. Für den Massenprotest versammelten sich mehr als 1000 Personen, darunter auch Menschen von Extinction Rebellion aus den Niederlanden, um gegen die Milliarden an Subventionen für fossile Brennstoffe zu protestieren, die die Bundesregierung jedes Jahr aus Steuereinnahmen aufwendet.

In seiner Rede erklärte Prof. Dr. Niko Froitzheim: "Die Regierungen der Erde haben Kohle-, Öl- und Gaskonzerne mit immer höheren fossilen Subventionen unterstützt. Nie zuvor wurden so hohe Subventionen für fossile Brennstoffe gezahlt wie 2022, weltweit waren es 7000 Milliarden Dollar laut dem Internationalen Währungsfonds. - Aber das hört jetzt auf. Wir lassen es unserer Regierung nicht länger durchgehen, dass sie die Fossilindustrie mit Subventionen mästet."

Wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse zeigen eindeutig, dass fossile Subventionen der dringend notwendigen Energiewende im Wege stehen. Fossile Subventionen verbilligen künstlich klimaschädliche Brennstoffe und Verkehrsmittel, verzögern den notwendigen Übergang zu einem saubereren Energie- und Verkehrssystem und halten Gelder zurück, die für eine gerechte nachhaltige Wende dringend benötigt würden.

He slow-travelled from Germany to Papua New Guinea for a field trip, taking boats, trains, busses, and #notflying.
There he talked about #climatechange with locals and made a promise not to fly on his way back either.
Then his institute sacked him for wanting to slow-travel back and not get on a plane to Germany.

He is our hero and he is on his way back on boats, trains, busses.
