“…Above the door: À l’Immortelle.
The rosemary waits in its pot. The lavender.
The olive saplings that will outlast everyone…”

Alongside the artwork, we will also be giving an artist talk about the project and its research background:
#DigitalAfterlife and #Immortality", with Katarzyna Nowaczyk-Basińska
(Thursday, 4 June, 17:45–18:00).

"Scientists have discovered bits of tissue removed from a species of sea cucumber called Psolus fabricii can keep on living indefinitely if they’re left in ordinary seawater."

This is the second or third story I've seen this week on the subject.

Severed sea cucumber appendages don't seem to die

They seem to reorganize their tissues and then just keep living.

So I beat #Immortality last night, and I’m pretty conflicted about it.

On one hand it’s doing something genuinely innovative with its mechanics and had some very cool moments that freaked me out. On the other it poses a central question and then just kind of… gives you the answer? Which is kinda of anticlimactic at the end.

I definitely liked it better than #TellingLies, but I think still less than #HerStory, which is an absolute masterpiece.

#KnowledgeByte: Negligible #Senescence is a term that describes organisms that don't show signs of biological aging, such as reduced reproductive capability, functional decline, or increased death rates with age.

It can also be described as a similar term to biological #Immortality, which means that an organism isn't more likely to die as it gets older.
