После долгих обсуждений и гигантского опроса игроков конкурс IFComp 2026 вводит новое правило: всё, что представляется игроку, включая обложку игры, должно быть полностью создано человеками.

Авторы могут продолжать использовать инструменты по своему выбору для помощи в разработке: вычитки, отладке, поддержке доступности для незрячих, поиска информации, ограниченной помощи в переводе, и программировании. Заявки не могут требовать от судей или игроков взаимодействия с внешним ИИ или генеративными сервисами во время игры.

The new #IFComp rule forbids authors from using genAI to produce any text or art assets in their entries, or having players interact with AI systems during play. Authors can use AI for things like research and coding assistance if they want, but everything players directly experience must now be wholly human-produced.

I am on the comp advisory committee, and was one of many folks taking part in this discussion, guided by player surveys. I feel happy with where it ended up. #InteractiveFiction

Authors may continue to use tools of their choice, including generative AI tools, for development assistance such as editing, debugging, accessibility support, research, limited translation assistance, or coding. Entries may not require judges or players to interact with external AI or generative services during play.🙷

For anyone who played or judged this year's #IFComp , there's a post-event survey from @IFTF that allows for feedback on (among other things) the use of generated AI in cover art and entries themselves.

I didn't play a lot of entries because the whole thing left a bad taste, but glad to provide feedback.
