Running for Ostomy Awareness Day gave me an opportunity to reflect on running a marathon after having an ileostomy placed, and how I got into all this endurance stuff when facing down a permanent colostomy prompted me to search for agency on a bicycle.

Outrunning Expectations: Ostomy Awareness Day | Step One

My muscles were on fire and my heart was beating in my head as I rang the bell, cresting the brutal mile-and-a-half climb up Highway 167 at mile 21 of the San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon.
