First time I've spun in over thirty years. Bought some fleece because I thought I should start spinning again or give away my wheel.

I got carried away with all the colours. I planned to only use this orange as highlights so I thought it didn't matter if I wasted some of it on practice. I genuinely didn't think I'd be able to knit it up!

So happy with the result, I've even started planning a blanket around my practice yarns.

Any hints and tips welcome. I'm spinning on an old Ashford traditional. I thought I had over spun the singles but maybe I under spun them?

Hey, internet! I made an ugly yarn and I couldn't be happier!

It's been thirty something years since I last touched my spinning wheel and I am here to report it's not quite like riding a bike but it does come back slowly.

I thought I was over spinning the single but now I think maybe I was underspinning it? At any rate, the next goal is to get my drafting much more even.

Text block production under way for the covers from my last post. Each stack of six sections is one notebook. Each section uses one A2 sheet of cartridge torn into four A4 sheets, folded to make an A5 booklet.

A Spot the Difference?

I'd be interested in people's opinions. I made two prototypes of a (new to me) style of book. How do people feel about the different flower shapes, the tooling of the stem and the flower centres?

I'll mix and match the best features of the two.

Completely happy with how this book turned out, despite and sometimes because of the many mistakes I made. Backed myself into a couple of corners that required creative thinking to get out of. Never thought I'd use a gal roofing nail as a handle tool but I love the result!
