@CFL Saw that W and thought it was about my alma mater UW, which won its season opener in handy fashion last night. Go #Huskies!

Oh hey! I still exist over here too!

The latest cool air from Canada NOT filled with wildfire smoke seems to have broken me out of my summer aestivation and got me back on my feet again. Temps in the 50s F means I can bring the huskies with me for a run.

Cardio condition has dropped a bit, but muscles and joints are holding up, so I hope to work back to former levels if I can keep up a consistent schedule.

Last Sunday was another gorgeous day for hiking. We swung down to Frontenac State Park to visit the Waconia Bluffs and see how the prairies there were doing in the late summer.

The St. Croix River is rising with recent rains, but we still had a little bit of sandy shoal where Trout Brook empties out into the wide river. Perfect for huskies to cool off at the end of a hike!

Zeena in particular liked exploring the reedy backwaters for frogs or other things that might be hiding in the flooded grasses.

Glorious cool air from Canada!

Last night we had a quick line of thunderstorms move through with a cold front bringing cool air from the north, and MIRACULOUSLY not full of wildfire smoke! Temps dipped into the 60s F and it was wonderful after a summer of heat, humidity and smoke.

We're having a busy working weekend, but we managed to escape today to Afton State Park for a hike around the south-eastern corner of the park, with a dip in the St. Croix river at the end!

Both of my huskies are needy in different ways. One will come up to me all day long asking for pets. I don't mind, except I work!!! So I'll give her attention and then go back to my worksheets. The other will look at me from the couch and whine until I get up and go pet her. The whining I do mind. Just come to me!!

Even in the evenings, one comes to me for pets. The other will just be right out of reach, and look at me and whine. Always just out of reach. HUSKIES!!

Zeena particularly loves checking the tall grasses for mouses and other things to pounce!

(Tonttu nearly caught a large dragonfly that buzzed out of the grass in front of his nose, but sadly we didn't get that on video.)

@Paws2Trail bedore I opened these images, from the smaller version I thought this was a cat!
@Paws2Trail The weather was perfect. We were helping family move today and were so happy with the temp rather than moving them in high 80°s.

@Paws2Trail Beautiful spot and happy huskies, can’t imagine anything better!

Glad it’s less hot for you there as well, Milla is so happy now it’s fresher!

@cdf1982 Beautiful spot and surprisingly clear waters this time! Often it's turbid and we take them for a second dip in clear Trout Brook higher up before it meets the river, but we didn't have to this time!

Glad you and Milla have cooler weather in your region too!

@Paws2Trail Oh wow that looks idyllic. Both Zeena and Tonttu look so happy there.
