Oh man, seeing all these steps makes me feel like giving up and just accepting I'm never going to have a place where I can live alone 😭

I have to find out how much ot costs to replace the roof of a house.

Found a house that is really great location and good price but requires a new roof.

I would love to put 10 to 16 bifocal solar panels there while doing it. That will be 5-8kW of solar panels.

People who have bought a house: what are some tips or things you wish you had known before you started the process?
I’m starting to not trust realtors; they keep pushing to buy houses out of my price range so they get a bigger commission.

The older I get the more I learn that life is about risk assessment in everything you do. And everyone's risk aversion is different based on life experiences. So there are people who are more than willing to jump out a plane, or bungee jumping off a bridge. That is cool with them. Great, But then there are others who eat whatever and don't think about how that will impact their health long term.....less immediate risk for them and the rewards are something tasty. And then there is me who will get all the vaccinations as the risk vs reward is really stacked towards the rewards of not getting a debilitating or terminal disease.

What brought all this up is I'm thinking of selling my house in the next 5 years to move into an apartment, and monitor sales for my preferred forever home. The townhouse I inherited is just too small for me. The idea of selling a house that is paid off and putting that money in a safe place is scary. A lot can go wrong when I'm in a safe setting but I know the rewards of moving to something larger is huge.
