Handyman came to remove the damaged socket under the sink. All fixed, he said, and a cover put on.

Sigh. The fix took out all eight other sockets on that side of the kitchen and the SFKnAT (three of which were installed quite recently).
I can plug in most appliances somewhere else, but what can I do with the washing which was loaded for this afternoon?

Original plumber = radio silence

Phoned 3. First two voice mails. Third, finally a human but not clue when or if plumber is coming.

Getting bored of waiting.

First the shower and now this....

So, this past Friday, the neighbors informed us of sluggish flows and backed up sewage on their side. We were worried that the sewage blockage was on our side as well. No problem. We called the City, but because it was Veterans Day weekend, we didn't get any response until an hour ago.

Basically, no one knows what side is on.

The backyard outside the fence is extremely swampy. The excavator sunk several feet as they dug out the debris and weeds. Puddles everywhere. Mosquitoes and flies. Still can't figure out.

I'm hoping that the break is on the City's end because A) we can't pay anyone and B) 8 don't think the neighbors can either. So I will keep you updated on this.

Noises from upstairs suggest that stonemartens have broken in and set up as non-paying tenants.

Lovely beasties, but hugely destructive. And set up very smelly toilets.

As they probably broke in through the roof which was repaired at enormous cost earlier this year, flooding is likely when the autumn rains start.

My landlady is coming tomorrow, so she can see what the contractor has done to prepare the house.

I’m worried she’s going to say she’ll end the tenancy without any extra costs, if we leave, because I think the house needs a lot of work. Or she’ll ask us to move out like last last time.
